Collages
Here you’ll find a collection of my collage works. Some pieces take months to complete, as I work exclusively with found ephemera and never print materials simply to fill a gap. I often begin with a theme, phrase, or social issue I’d like to explore, then gradually gather source materials and hand-cut each element.
As a composition develops, it may sit on my workbench for weeks or even months while I experiment with the placement of the many small pieces, adding, removing, and rearranging them until the image feels complete. Only then do I permanently assemble, glue, and frame the work.
Working in this way means I often have three or four collages evolving simultaneously, each growing at its own pace.
The pieces are often a humorous take on social, economic, or environmental issues. Through the careful selection and placement of many small elements, I aim to create works that reward closer inspection, with details that resonate differently with each viewer and encourage reflection, conversation, and sometimes a smile.
